NEW! After years of asking, Carlitos finally opens up the pages to his Colombian journals from 2006 - 2009. He arrived destitute and relying on the famed hospitality of the locals, who would often feed and bathe him. Starting in Bogotá, he moved to Medellín before finding work as a teacher in Cali. Unlike the Cuban journals, Carlitos took fewer photographs during his time in Colombia due to security. His tales from this wonderful country, however, are in many ways more evocative for this reason.
The Cuban Journals
Carlitos opens the pages to his much talked about Cuban journals from 2006 - 2016. Read about his encounter with Tony Montana here, and how he brought Fidel Castro to his knees here. Alternatively, simply read them all and enjoy his musings on topics as wide-ranging as the Cuban health care system, the black market, and modern Cuban pastimes.

My reasoning was simple. What puts people on edge? The answer: crazy people. Think about it. Imagine you’re on a quiet train trying to read, say, Ian Fleming’s From Russia With Love. The gentle lurch of the the carriage is the perfect setting to read of Bond’s escape from Turkey on board the Orient Express. Just as it dawns on you that this is the second Bond novel in which Bond falls in love with a woman described as a man, the train pulls into a station on gets a crazy person.
